who this policy covers

totem is made by really nice. this policy covers the totem app and this site, totemdreams.com. if a future version of totem collects something new, this policy changes with it — and the date above moves.

what we collect

what you give us: an email address and account identifier when you sign in, whatever you write to support, and your subscription state — apple tells us whether you’re subscribed, never your card.

what arrives on its own: page views, app screen use, browser and device details, rough location from your ip, timestamps, crash diagnostics, and performance data. site analytics can use cookies or similar identifiers. we never send your journal entries to analytics.

what stays on your device: your preferences, and the camera. reality checks that look at your hands run entirely on your phone — frames never leave it.

what we don’t collect: precise location, your contacts or photos, health records, payment card numbers, or government ids.

your journal

entries live on your device and sync to your private cloud space so a lost phone doesn’t mean a lost journal. we don’t read them, sell them, train models on them, or show them to anyone.

each night’s story is generated from the intent you choose. the generation pipeline receives the story’s theme — never your journal.

how we use information

to run totem and keep it improving: delivering stories and reminders, answering support, watching for crashes, securing the service, preventing abuse, and meeting legal obligations.

we do not sell personal information, and we are not a data broker.

service providers

totem runs on a small set of providers: apple for sign-in and billing, google firebase for accounts, sync, and crash reporting, google analytics for site usage, cloudflare for this site, and the ai services that render each story’s audio and imagery. story services receive the theme, never your journal.

beyond that, we disclose information only to professional advisers, or to regulators and law enforcement when the law requires it or when it’s necessary to protect rights, safety, or the service.

retention

we keep information only as long as it’s needed: support threads until they’re resolved, diagnostics and analytics on operational schedules, your journal until you delete it.

delete the app and your local journal goes with it. delete your account in settings and your cloud data is removed within 30 days.

international transfers

totem and its providers may process information outside your country, including in the united states. where the law requires safeguards for those transfers, we apply them.

security

we use reasonable administrative and technical measures to protect your information. no system is perfectly secure, and we won’t pretend ours is.

your rights and choices

depending on where you live, you can ask to access, correct, delete, export, or restrict your personal information. deletion doesn’t need a request — it lives in the app’s settings. for everything else, write to support@totemdreams.com.

not for children

totem is for adults — you must be 18 or older to use it. we don’t knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. if you believe that’s happened, write to us and we’ll delete it.

changes to this policy

when this policy changes, the new version is posted here and the date moves. material changes get called out in the app or by email.
